During the month of December our class be involved in an author study featuring Jan Brett. Jan Brett is an author/illustrator who creates fun and captivating stories for young learners. We will read a few of her books and incorporate them into our writer’s workshop. The children will learn to appreciate her unique style and apply her technique to their own work.

Read poems; Myself and the Elf, Our Beautiful World, Old King Cole.
Identify concepts of print.
Read and write sight words: eight, nine, ten, to, in, it, is, on, for, what, will, into.
Identify beginning, middle, and ending sounds in words.
Spelling short vowel words.
Write two sentences that go together. (Buddy sentences)
Practice writing the correct formation of letters.
Understand length, count accurately, and use strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems.
Record and share data from math investigations.
Count to 75.
