This month in kindergarten we will ask and answer the questions:
How can I be a kind friend?
Who was Abraham Lincoln?
We will:
Identify the characteristics of a kind friend.
Identify and tell about the important work of Abraham Lincoln.
Listen to stories and participate in building vocabulary word webs.
Write and illustrate stories with topic and character focus.
Identify rhyming pairs.
Spell word families for short e and i.
Continue to identify phonics sounds and use them when writing words: /sh/, /ch/, /th/, and /wh/
Identify and use blends when spelling short vowel words: fl, tr, st.
Read and write sight words.
Write a 6 star sentence to tell about a friendship. Write two sentences that go together. (Buddy sentences)
Develop language to describe and compare 2-D and 3-D shapes and their attributes.
Construct 2-D and 3-D shapes.
Relate shapes to real world objects.
Explore Geoblocks and their attributes.
identify faces of different 3-D shapes.
Combine shapes to create new shapes.
Count to 100!

Also, in February we will celebrate friendship. I am inviting the children to bring in and pass out Valentine cards on Tuesday, February 14th.
