Our essential questions for November are:
How did our country begin? How do people show thankfulness in our community? This month the children will: Recognize why the Puritans/Pilgrims left Europe. Tell how the pilgrims improved their lives with the help of Native Americans and the advancement of skills in farming. Recognize George Washington as the first President of the United States. Recognize the 4th of July as our Nation’s birthday. Make personal connections to the stories we read. List and write about what we are thankful for. Understand how people show gratitude. Identify concepts of print. Spell words families short with short vowels. Read and write sight words. Identify sounds that are different in words. Write a 6 star sentence and use adjectives. Practice writing the correct formation of letters. Identify teen numbers. Copy, construct, compare, describe, and record repeated patterns. Count to 60. Be a kind friend. We have great room moms who put on great monthly festivals! This festival celebrated our learning of Native Americans with a focus on the Hopi Tribe and the Taino Tribe. The children compared and contrasted the tribes while listening to stories about two Native American children. They also participated in craft making, grinding corn, and planting.
Our storybook parade coincided with our first Applied Learning Project called A Night Animal Museum. The backdrop to this picture was our night sky and spider exhibit.
