This month in kindergarten is all about our world. We will be involved in learning projects about mapping, geography, and national symbols. We will end our month with a fun apple unit and a learning festival about apples!

Identify senses and the body parts associated with them. Observe common objects using multiple senses. Identify characteristics of rocks and sort them accordingly. Recognize the differences and similarities of maps and globes. Identify land and water on maps and globes. Use relative locations of objects when discussing items on our maps. Identify where we live on a map: city, state, country, continent, and planet Identify important national symbols in our country by naming the American Flag, Bald Eagle, Statue of Liberty, and The White House. Identify the current president Barack Obama and Governor of Arizona Doug Ducey. Identify elements of a non-fiction book. Identify setting and characters of a story. Ask questions and explore reading material to find answers to their questions. Identify concepts of print. Identify words that rhyme. Build phonemic awareness skills for beginning sounds, /f/, /g/, /h/, /k/, /l/, /m/,/n/ /p/, /r/, /s/, /t/. Identify all sounds of the alphabet and their corresponding letters. Identify and read sight words: I, a, see, the, my, like, red, orange, yellow, blue, up, down, we. Interview a friend. Write sounds for words to match their illustrations and use finger spaces between words. Practice writing the correct formation of letters. Define, list, and illustrate nouns. Make patterns. Count objects, write numbers to show a given set. Count to 30. |
